What's a Hipcrime? You committed one when you opened this blog. Keep it up. It's our only hope.
Congrats on the new blog! If you are interested in migrating your old posts across have a look here https://codex.wordpress.org/Importing_Content#Blogger
I was thinking about that, but I decided I don't want to migrate all posts en masse; rather, I'll probably just either migrate posts manually, or keep them here. Some posts are more time-specific, while others are not. I may revise some older posts if I move them. Thanks for the tip, though.
See you there under either Neon Vincent or something approximating my real name.
First beer's on me ;-)
Congratulations on your new blog and your very own website! Please don't let these archives go, though. I often link to them when I need to explain the unraveling of our society---as you are easily the best writer on this subject that I know of.
Don't worry, this site's not going anywhere. I plan on leaving the posts here, and I may add occasional things over time as well in addition to the new site. I haven't decided yet.
I cannot tell you how many times I see on social media these posts from "Occupy Democrats" and "MoveOn.org" about how great Obama has been at creating jobs. And then I explain how the unemployment numbers are cooked up out of whole cloth, how automation impacts the economy, and how the future of work is "post-work, no jobs" economy under a neo-fascist, neo-feudal tyranny if people don't wake up and act intelligently. Your work has been vital in helping me communicate these realities. Some get it, most people with whom I share this stuff--alas--do not. The psychological phenomenon of loss aversion is real. People would rather hang onto goofy social identities and worn-out political ideologies than adjust their thinking to how the socio-political environment is rapidly changing for the worse.
That's where the data are leading. I really wish people who believe the opposite would meaningfully engage with these arguments and provide a well-though-out refutation, but I haven't seen anyone do that to the extent that they are really making a valid counter-argument. Most of it boils down to "I have a job, and therefore no problem." That's not sophisticated analysis. The sad thing is that the people who are tasked with thinking about how to deal with these trends are busy denying them.
Congratulations on your new website !
